Hahnentor: The Majestic Gateway of Cologne

Getting There

• Public Transport

  If you are at Cologne Central Station (Köln Hauptbahnhof), take tram line 18 from the station. You can catch the tram at the tram stop just outside the station. Travel towards the direction of 'Lindenthal' and get off at the 'Rudolfplatz' stop. From there, Hahnentor is just a short walk away. As you exit the tram, head towards the large roundabout and look for the impressive tower, which is Hahnentor, located at Rudolfplatz 1.

• Walking

  If you are near the Cologne Cathedral (Kölner Dom), you can walk to Hahnentor. Start from the Cathedral and head west on the 'Domstraße' towards 'Rudolfplatz'. Continue straight for about 1.5 km, passing through several squares and streets. You will eventually reach Rudolfplatz, where you will see Hahnentor at the corner of the square. It should take around 20-25 minutes to walk there.

• Public Transport

  From the Neumarkt area, take tram line 1 or 7 towards 'Bocklemünd' or 'Zündorf'. Get off at the 'Rudolfplatz' stop. Once you exit the tram, Hahnentor will be directly in front of you. It’s an easy visit, and you’ll be right at the landmark.

• Taxi

  If you prefer a more direct route, you can take a taxi from anywhere in the city. Just tell the driver to take you to 'Hahnentor at Rudolfplatz'. The ride should be quick, and it's a convenient option if you have luggage or prefer not to walk.
