Getting there

Train

From Dresden's main train station (Dresden Hauptbahnhof), take a regional train (S-Bahn or RE) towards 'Bad Schandau' or 'Pillnitz'. Get off at 'Lohmen' station. From there, follow the signs to Bastei, which is about a 30-minute walk. Exit the station, turn left onto the main road, and follow the signs leading to Bastei. You will walk through a wooded area and eventually reach the viewpoint.

Bus

From Dresden's city center, head to the 'Dresden Postplatz' bus stop. Take bus number 437 towards 'Lohmen'. After approximately 40 minutes, get off at the 'Lohmen' stop. From there, follow the directions to Bastei as mentioned above; it is a 30-minute walk from the bus stop.

Bike

If you prefer cycling, you can rent a bike in Dresden. Start from the city center and head towards 'Sachsenplatz'. Follow the bike path along the Elbe River towards 'Pillnitz'. After reaching Pillnitz, continue towards Lohmen. The ride is approximately 20 kilometers and will take around 1.5 hours. Once in Lohmen, follow the signs to Bastei.

Walking

For the adventurous, you can start walking from Dresden city center. Head towards the Elbe River and follow the path along the river until you reach 'Pillnitz'. From Pillnitz, continue walking towards Lohmen. It's a long trek of about 20 kilometers, which will take around 4-5 hours. Once you reach Lohmen, follow the signs to Bastei.
