From Dresden Hauptbahnhof (Dresden Main Station), take the S-Bahn line S1 towards 'Bad Schandau'. This train runs frequently, approximately every 30 minutes. Stay on the train for about 30 minutes and get off at Königstein station. Once you arrive at Königstein station, exit the station and follow the signs towards 'Festung Königstein'. It's about a 15-minute walk uphill to the fortress, and there will be clear signage along the way.

From Dresden, you can take Bus 435 from the Pirna bus station to Königstein. The journey takes about 45 minutes. Once you arrive at the Königstein bus stop, follow the path leading to the fortress, which is about a 20-minute walk uphill. Look for direction signs that will guide you to the entrance of the fortress.

You can also take a scenic boat trip on the Elbe River from Dresden to Königstein. Board a boat at the Brühlschen Terrassen landing stage in Dresden. The boat ride takes about 1 hour. Once you arrive at the Königstein dock, you will need to walk approximately 30 minutes to the fortress, following the path uphill. There will be signs to direct you to the fortress.
