Public Transport
To reach Oleftalsperre using public transport, take a train to Kall station. From Kall, catch regional bus line 202 towards Hellenthal. Alight at the Hellenthal Busbf (bus station). From there, it's approximately a 25-minute walk (around 1 km) to Oleftalsperre along Oleftalstraße. A bus ticket from Kall to Hellenthal typically costs between €3-€5. Check local bus schedules in advance as services may vary, especially on weekends and holidays. From the Hellenthal Busbf, follow Oleftalstraße, passing the tennis court on your left, to reach the dam.
Driving
If driving, navigate to Oleftalstraße 30, 53940 Hellenthal. From the main roads in Eifel National Park, follow the L115 road towards Hellenthal. In Hellenthal, turn onto Oleftalstraße and continue until you reach the Oleftalsperre. Parking is available near the site. Parking fees may apply, but it is often a small fee. There are 16 parking spaces directly at the dam.
Walking
If already in Hellenthal, access Oleftalsperre via several hiking trails. Follow marked hiking paths leading from Hellenthal towards Oleftalsperre. The scenic walk takes approximately 1 to 1.5 hours, depending on your starting point. Ensure you wear appropriate footwear and carry water. From Hellenthal town center, follow Oleftalstraße, passing landmarks like the church, and continue towards the dam.
