Car
If you are traveling by car, start from the center of Bamberg, which is a major city in Franconia. Take the A70 highway towards Bayreuth. After about 30 km, exit onto the B299 towards Ebermannstadt. Continue on B299 for approximately 10 km until you reach Wiesenttal. Follow the signs for Neideck Castle, which is located about 5 km outside of Wiesenttal on a hilltop. There is a parking area near the castle, and parking is usually free.
Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, take a train from Nuremberg Hauptbahnhof (main station) to Ebermannstadt, which takes about 1 hour. From Ebermannstadt, you will need to take bus line 204 towards Wiesenttal. The bus ride takes about 20 minutes. Get off at the 'Wiesenttal Neideck' stop. From there, follow the signs to Neideck Castle, which is about a 20-minute hike uphill. Note that the bus may have limited schedules, so check the local timetable beforehand.
Walking
If you are already in Wiesenttal, you can reach Neideck Castle by walking. The castle is about a 5 km hike from the center of Wiesenttal. Follow the hiking trails that are well-marked. The hike will take approximately 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on your pace. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes and bring water, as the trail is uphill and can be steep in some sections.
