The Charming Untere Brücke: A Gateway to Bamberg's History

Getting There

• Car

  If you're driving, navigate to Bamberg via the A73 highway. Take the exit toward Bamberg-West, and follow the signs for Bamberg city center. Once in the city, look for signs indicating the way to the Altstadt (Old Town) area. As you approach the historic center, you will cross over the Regnitz River. Untere Brücke is located right before you enter the Old Town area. There is limited street parking available, so be prepared to find a spot and walk the last few minutes to the bridge.

• Public Transportation

  If you're using public transport, take the train to Bamberg Central Station (Bamberg Hauptbahnhof). From the station, you can catch tram line 1 or 2 towards the city center. Get off at the 'Theater' stop. From there, it's about a 10-minute walk to Untere Brücke. Head east on Lichtenfelser Strasse, cross the bridge over the river, and continue straight until you reach the bridge. Ensure you check the local tram schedules for any updates on timings.

• Walking

  For those already in the city, walking to Untere Brücke can be a pleasant experience. From the Bamberg Cathedral, which is a well-known landmark, walk down Domstraße toward the Old Town Hall (Altes Rathaus). From the Old Town Hall, continue toward the river and follow the path along the water. The bridge is clearly visible and provides beautiful views of the surrounding area.
