Getting There

  • Walking

    If you are in Westend, a pleasant walk to Städel Museum is very doable. Start by heading east on Bockenheimer Landstraße towards the city center. After about 10-15 minutes, you will reach the Main River. Once you arrive at the river, turn left and walk along the riverbank. Continue walking for approximately 1 kilometer until you see the Städel Museum on your right at Schaumainkai 63. The walk will take about 20-25 minutes in total, and you can enjoy the beautiful riverside views along the way.

  • Public Transport - Tram

    You can also take public transportation to reach the Städel Museum. From Westend, head to the nearest tram stop, which is 'Bockenheimer Warte' (Tram Line 16 or 17). Board the tram heading towards 'Heiligenstadt' or 'Sachsenhausen'. After a short ride of about 5 minutes, get off at the stop 'Schweizer Platz'. From there, it's a 10-minute walk: head east on Breidenbacherstraße, then turn right onto Schaumainkai. The museum will be on your left at number 63. A single ticket costs around €2.75.

    Alternatively, you can take a bus from Westend. Find the nearest bus stop, 'Bockenheimer Landstraße/Palais Thurn und Taxis', and board Bus 36 towards 'Hauptbahnhof'.
