Getting There

  • Walking

    If you're starting from the Freiburg Hauptbahnhof (main train station), exit the station and head east on Bahnhofstraße. Continue straight until you reach the intersection with Kaiser-Joseph-Straße. Turn left onto Kaiser-Joseph-Straße and walk straight for about 800 meters. You will pass many shops and cafes along the way. As you walk, look out for the iconic Martinstor on your right. Continue walking until you reach the large square, which is Rathausplatz, located at the end of Kaiser-Joseph-Straße.

  • Tram

    From Freiburg Hauptbahnhof, take tram line 1 or 3 towards 'Littenweiler' or 'Zähringen'. Get off at the stop 'Rathaus' (approximately 5 minutes ride). After exiting the tram, walk straight ahead for about 100 meters and you will arrive at Rathausplatz. The square will be immediately visible with its historic buildings.

  • Bicycle

    If you are renting a bicycle, start from any point in the city center. Head towards the Schloßbergring, then follow the signs towards the city center. As you reach the city center, look for Kaiser-Joseph-Straße, which is a pedestrian-friendly route. Continue cycling down this street until you reach Rathausplatz.
