Getting There

• By Car

  From any location in Harz National Park, head towards the A36 highway. If you're in the northern part of Harz National Park, take the B242 south towards Blankenburg. Merge onto the A36 at the exit for Blankenburg and continue south. Follow the A36 until you reach the junction for the B80. Take the B80 exit towards Sangerhausen. Continue on the B80 for approximately 20 kilometers until you see the signs for Kyffhäuserland. Take the exit for Barbarossastraße, and follow the signs to Naturparkverwaltung Südharz located at Barbarossastraße 39A, 06567 Kyffhäuserland. Note that there may be parking fees in the area, so be prepared for that.

• By Public Transportation

  To reach South Harz Nature Park via public transport, take a train from any station within Harz National Park to Sangerhausen. You can catch regional trains from towns like Wernigerode or Quedlinburg. Once you arrive at Sangerhausen, transfer to a local bus heading towards Kyffhäuserland. The bus will drop you off near Barbarossastraße. Check the local bus schedule for the exact routes and timings as they may vary. It's advisable to purchase a day pass for the public transport system which generally costs around €5 to €10.

• Walking/Biking from Nearby Towns

  If you're staying in nearby towns such as Rottleben, you can enjoy a scenic walk or bike ride to South Harz Nature Park. From Rottleben, head southeast towards Barbarossastraße. The distance is approximately 3 kilometers, and it should take about 30-40 minutes to walk or 10-15 minutes to bike. Make sure to follow local paths and signs that lead directly to the park. This is a lovely way to enjoy the natural beauty of the area.
