Car
If you're traveling by car, head towards Schotten, Hesse. From the A5 highway, take the exit towards B276 in the direction of Schotten. Follow B276 for approximately 20 km until you reach Schotten. Look for signs directing you to Naturpark Vulkanregion. The exact address is Am Vulkaneum 1, 63679 Schotten. There is free parking available at the park entrance.
Train and Bus
For those using public transportation, start by taking a train to the Schotten station. You can catch regional trains (RE or RB) from major cities such as Frankfurt or Gießen. Upon arriving at Schotten station, you will need to take bus line 14 (Rundlinie) towards the Naturpark Vulkanregion. This bus runs frequently, but check the local schedule for exact times. The bus stop is directly outside the train station, and the journey to the park will take around 15 minutes. Make sure to buy a ticket from the machine or app before boarding, which typically costs around €2-3.
Bicycle
For a more adventurous option, consider cycling to High Vogelsberg Nature Park. You can rent a bike in Schotten or bring your own. There are dedicated bike paths from nearby towns leading directly to the park. The ride can be quite scenic, taking you through beautiful landscapes. Be sure to check the local cycling maps for the best routes and plan for a distance of approximately 5-10 km depending on your starting point.
