Once in the vicinity of the Rhine riverfront or the town's main street (Oberstraße), the main sights of Bacharach are easily explored on foot. From Oberstraße, the Wernerkapelle is a short uphill walk. Burg Stahleck can be reached via a steeper climb through vineyards, with paths starting near the Wernerkapelle or from Blücherstraße. Allow approximately 20-30 minutes for the ascent to the castle. Comfortable shoes are recommended due to cobblestone streets and uneven terrain.

If arriving by car, be aware that parking within the old town is very limited. Ample parking is available along the Rhine River (Rheinufer) and on the outskirts of town along B9, Koblenzer Straße and Mainzer Straße. Paid parking is enforced from 9 AM to 6 PM. Parking fees are approximately €1 per hour, with a daily ticket costing around €5. There is also a public car park with overnight parking for €15 for 24 hours. From the parking areas, it's a short walk into the town center. Be mindful of the general parking ban in the old town area due to narrow streets.
