Local buses provide access to Ehrenbreitstein. Take bus route 1 from Koblenz main railway station (bay D) to the 'Deutsches Eck' bus stop, then transfer to the cable car. Alternatively, take the bus to the 'Festung lift/Youth hostel' stop, which is close to the fortress lift. A single bus fare is approximately €2.60. From the bus stops, follow signs to the cable car or lift for the final ascent.

For those who enjoy a scenic walk, Ehrenbreitstein Fortress is accessible via the Rheinsteig hiking trail. Follow the red columns from Koblenz city center to Deutsches Eck, then cross the Rhine via the Pfaffendorf Bridge. From Ehrenbreitstein, follow the signs uphill to the fortress.
