From any location in the Ore Mountains, navigate to the nearest major road leading to Marienberg. If you are starting from places like Altenberg or Seiffen, take the B170 towards Marienberg. Once you reach Marienberg, follow signs to Schloßberg. The castle ruins are located at Schloßberg 5-7, 09496 Marienberg. There is parking available near the site, but make sure to check for any parking fees which may apply.
Public Transportation
If you are using public transportation, you can take a train to Marienberg. Check the local train schedules as you may need to transfer at Chemnitz or another larger hub. Once you arrive at Marienberg station, you can take Bus 207 towards 'Lauterstein' and get off at the 'Marienberg, Schloßberg' stop. From there, the Burgruine Lauterstein is a short walk away, just follow signs towards Schloßberg. Be sure to check bus schedules for any potential fees and timings.
Walking
For those already in Marienberg, you can easily walk to Burgruine Lauterstein. Simply head towards Schloßberg, which is about a 15-20 minute walk from the city center. Follow pedestrian signs towards the castle ruins, and enjoy the scenic walk through the area.
