If you are traveling by car, start on the A65 Autobahn. Take exit 13 toward Dahn. Follow the B48 road towards Dahn. Once you reach Dahn, follow the signs for Burg Altdahn and Grafendahn, which will lead you through the town. The castle is located at Grafendahn-Tanstein-Altdahn, 66994 Dahn. There is parking available near the castle; however, parking may incur a small fee, so be prepared with some coins or a card.
Public Transportation
To reach Altdahn Castle using public transportation, take a train to Dahn from larger nearby cities like Landau or Pirmasens. Once you arrive at the Dahn train station, you can either walk to the castle, which is approximately a 30-minute hike uphill, or take a local taxi. If you choose to walk, follow Bahnhofstraße and continue on the hiking trail signs towards Burg Altdahn. Make sure to check the local train schedules for any potential costs and times.
Walking
If you prefer to hike to the castle from Dahn, after reaching the train station or parking your car, follow Bahnhofstraße, which will lead you to the hiking trail.
