Cochem Castle: A Majestic Marvel Overlooking the Moselle

Getting There

• Car

  If you're traveling by car, Cochem Castle is located at Schlossstraße 36, 56812 Cochem. From anywhere in Palatinate, you'll want to access the A48 autobahn. Follow the A48 towards Koblenz, then take the exit for Cochem. From the exit, follow the signs for Cochem town center. Once in Cochem, follow the signs for 'Schloss' (castle) which will lead you uphill to the castle parking area. Note that parking fees apply, typically around 3-5 EUR.

• Train

  For those using public transportation, take a train to Cochem station (Bahnhof Cochem). The station is accessible from major cities in the region like Trier or Koblenz. From Cochem station, you can either walk to the castle which takes approximately 20-25 minutes uphill, or take a local bus (Bus line 712) to 'Cochem Burg' stop, which is just a short walk from the castle entrance. Make sure to check the local bus schedules for timings. A single train ticket from Trier to Cochem will cost around 10-15 EUR depending on the time and route.

• Bus

  If you're already in Cochem and would like to use a bus, local bus services operate frequently. You can catch bus line 712 which connects various points in Cochem to the castle. Board the bus at any of the main stops in Cochem, such as 'Cochem ZOB' (central bus station). The fare is usually around 2-3 EUR for a single trip. The bus will drop you off at 'Cochem Burg' stop, very close to the castle.

• Walking

  For the more adventurous visitors, walking to Cochem Castle is a rewarding experience. Starting from Cochem town center, head towards Schlossstraße and follow the signs to the castle. The walk is steep and will take approximately 20-30 minutes. Make sure to wear comfortable shoes, as the path can be uneven and hilly. Enjoy the scenic views of the Moselle River along the way!
