Car
If you're driving, start by heading towards Heidelberg from your location in the Palatinate region. Use the A6 or A5 highways depending on your starting point. Once you reach Heidelberg, follow the signs for 'Heidelberger Altstadt' and park at one of the public parking garages, such as Parkhaus P12 or P13, which are located near the Old Town. From the parking garage, it’s a 10-15 minute walk to the Thick Tower.
Public Transportation
For public transport, take a train to Heidelberg Hauptbahnhof (main station). From there, you can either take tram number 5 towards 'Heidelberg Ziegelhausen' or bus number 33 towards 'Heidelberg Altstadt'. Get off at the 'Heidelberg Altstadt' stop. From the stop, walk towards the Old Bridge (Alte Brücke) and then head uphill towards the castle. The Thick Tower is located near the Heidelberg Castle, and the walk will take about 20 minutes from the tram/bus stop.

If you are already in the Old Town area, simply walk towards the Heidelberg Castle. The Thick Tower is part of the castle complex, and you can follow the signs. The walk includes some steep paths and stairs, so wear comfortable shoes. The journey from the Old Town to the Thick Tower should take around 15-20 minutes.
