Car
To reach Neuschwanstein Castle by car from Pomerania, start by getting onto the A1 motorway towards Hamburg. Continue on the A1 until you reach the junction for A7 towards Flensburg. Stay on A7 for approximately 500 km until you reach the exit for A95 towards Garmisch-Partenkirchen. Follow the A95 and then take the B2 to Füssen. From Füssen, follow the signs to Schwangau. The castle is located at Neuschwansteinstraße 20, 87645 Schwangau. There is parking available at the designated lot near the castle entrance, which usually incurs a fee of around €6 per day.
Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, start by taking a train from Pomerania to Munich. Use the Deutsche Bahn website or app to find your nearest train station and book your ticket. Once in Munich, transfer to the regional train (RE) heading towards Füssen. This journey takes about 2 hours. Upon arriving in Füssen, you can take a local bus (Bus 78) to the castle. The bus ride takes around 10-15 minutes. Make sure to check the bus schedule in advance as it may vary. The total cost for the train and bus should be around €30-€50, depending on your starting point and the time of booking.
Combination of Car and Public Transportation
If you prefer a combination of driving and public transport, drive to Füssen first. Follow the earlier instructions to reach Füssen by car. Once you arrive, park your car in one of the public parking lots in the town. From there, take the local bus (Bus 78) to Neuschwanstein Castle. This option allows you to skip the long drive from Pomerania entirely and enjoy the local scenery.
