Getting There

  • Public Transport

    From Potsdam Hauptbahnhof (Main Train Station), take the regional train RE1 towards Brandenburg Hbf. This train runs frequently. Once on board, travel for approximately 30 minutes. You will arrive at Berlin Hauptbahnhof (Central Station). From there, follow the signs to the S-Bahn (urban train) lines and take the S-Bahn S3, S5, S7, or S9 towards Warschauer Straße. Get off at Friedrichstraße station (2 stops). At Friedrichstraße, transfer to the U-Bahn (subway) line U6 and take it towards Alt-Tegel. Alight at the next station, which is 'Oranienburger Tor'. From the station, it is a short walk to Altes Museum, located at Bodestraße 1-3. Head south on Oranienburger Straße, then turn left onto Bodestraße. The museum will be on your right.

    If you are already in the city center of Potsdam, you can take a scenic walk to the tram station 'Luisenplatz'. From there, take tram line 91 towards S-Bahnhof Potsdam Griebnitzsee. Get off at 'Potsdam, Hauptbahnhof' (Main Train Station). From there, follow the public transport guidance as mentioned above to reach Altes Museum by train.

    From Potsdam, you can take bus line 606 from 'Potsdam, ZOB' (Central Bus Station) towards 'Berlin, Alexanderplatz'. This bus takes about 50 minutes to reach Berlin. Once you arrive at Alexanderplatz, you can walk towards the U-Bahn station and take the U-Bahn line U2 towards Pankow. Get off at 'Museum Island' station, and from there, it's a short walk to Altes Museum. Head northwest on Am Lustgarten, then turn left onto Bodestraße. The museum will be ahead.
