Getting There

• Car

  If you're traveling by car, start from the main city of Bergen auf Rügen. Take the B196 road heading north towards Sassnitz. After approximately 30 kilometers, follow the signs for Putgarten. Once you reach Putgarten, look for signs directing you to Cape Arkona. The lighthouse is located at Neuer Leuchtturm, Arkona 3, 18556 Putgarten. There is parking available nearby, but be prepared to pay a small fee.

• Public Transportation

  For those using public transportation, take a train or bus to Sassnitz. From Sassnitz, you can catch a regional bus (Bus 20) that goes directly to Putgarten. The bus ride takes about 30 minutes. Once you arrive in Putgarten, follow the signs to Cape Arkona Lighthouse, which is a short walk from the bus stop. Make sure to check the bus schedule in advance, as service may be limited, especially on weekends.

• Walking

  If you are feeling adventurous and are already in Putgarten, you can walk to Cape Arkona Lighthouse. The walk from the village center is approximately 2 kilometers and takes about 30 minutes. Follow the marked path towards the coast, and you'll soon see the iconic lighthouse in the distance. This route also offers beautiful views of the surrounding landscape.

• Bicycle

  For an eco-friendly option, consider renting a bicycle. There are several bike rental shops in Putgarten. From the village, you can cycle towards Cape Arkona, which is about 2 kilometers away. The route is relatively flat and provides a pleasant ride through the countryside.
