From Dresden, take the S-Bahn (S3) or a Regional train (RE3, RB30) to Tharandt Bahnhof (Tharandt Train Station). From the station, it's approximately a 20-minute walk to the Forstbotanischer Garten. Follow signs towards the town center (Markt), then head up the Schulberg (school hill) past the Evangelisches Gymnasium (Evangelical Gymnasium). Turn left onto Heinrich-Cotta-Straße and then right to the garden entrance. A single S-Bahn ticket from Dresden to Tharandt costs approximately €4.00 - €6.00.
Bus
Several bus lines connect Tharandt Bahnhof with closer proximity to the garden. Take bus lines 343, 344, 345, 346 or 363 to the 'Tharandt Markt' bus stop. From there, it's about a 10-minute walk to the garden, following the directions as above from the town center. A short-trip bus ticket costs around €2.50 - €3.50.
Driving
If driving, parking is available in Tharandt, but spaces near the garden are limited, especially during peak season. Paid parking is available at Tharandt Markt (town center). Free parking can be found near the Tharandt Bahnhof, but it requires a 20-minute walk to the garden. From either parking location, follow signs to the Forstbotanischer Garten. Parking fees at Tharandt Markt are approximately €1-2 per hour.
