The journey should take approximately 30 minutes, depending on traffic. There is free parking available at the site.

For those using public transportation, start your journey from Ilmenau train station. Take the regional train towards Erfurt and disembark at the Gehren stop. From Gehren, you can catch bus number 133 towards Deesbach. The bus ride will take about 20 minutes. Ensure you check the bus schedule in advance, as services may vary. The bus will drop you off close to Talsperre Deesbach, and from there it is a short walk to the lake. A single bus fare is approximately €2.50.
