Getting there

Car

If you're driving, head towards Wierschem, where Eltz Castle is located. From Regensburg, take the A93 towards Rosenheim, then merge onto the A92 towards Munich. Near the airport, take the A9 towards Nuremberg and continue until you reach the A6. Follow the A6 and take exit 22 to merge onto the A63 toward Bingen. From there, follow signs to Wierschem. Once in Wierschem, follow the signs to Eltz Castle. Note that parking is available at the designated parking area, which may charge a fee (typically around €2-€4 for the day). After parking, it’s about a 30-minute hike to the castle, so wear comfortable shoes.

Public Transportation

To reach Eltz Castle by public transport, first, take a train to Koblenz from any major city in Upper Palatinate, such as Regensburg or Nuremberg. From Koblenz, take bus line 300 towards Cochem and get off at the stop 'Eltz Castle'. The bus ride takes about 30 minutes. After disembarking, it's a 20-minute walk to the castle entrance, so ensure you have appropriate footwear.
