Travel Guide to Schloss Drachenburg

Getting There

• Car

  If you are traveling by car, start by navigating to the A3 motorway. Take the exit towards Königswinter (Exit 34). Continue on B42 toward Königswinter. Follow signs for Drachenfelsstraße. The castle is located at Drachenfelsstraße 118, 53639 Königswinter. There is parking available nearby, but be aware that parking fees may apply.

• Train

  For those using public transportation, take a regional train (RE or RB) from any major city in Westphalia to Bonn Hauptbahnhof. From Bonn, transfer to the S-Bahn (S66 or S17) to Königswinter. Once you arrive at Königswinter station, you can either walk (approximately 20 minutes) to Schloss Drachenburg or take a bus (Bus 520) which will take you closer to the castle. The bus fare is approximately €2-3.

• Bus

  If you are already in the vicinity of Königswinter, you can use local buses. Take Bus 520 from the Königswinter station directly to the stop named 'Drachenfels'. Once you get off, follow the signs leading you to Schloss Drachenburg. The bus fare is approximately €2-3.

• Walking

  If you prefer to walk from the center of Königswinter, you can take a pleasant route along the river Rhine. Walk along the river promenade for about 1.5 kilometers until you reach the foot of Drachenfels. From there, follow the signs up the hill to Schloss Drachenburg. Be prepared for a steep climb if you choose this route.
