Car
If you're travelling by car, start from the center of Zugspitze. Head east on Zugspitzstraße toward Garmisch-Partenkirchen. Follow the signs for B2 and continue to Garmisch-Partenkirchen. Once in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, follow the signs for the cable cars, and you will see signs for the Sonnenkar 6er Sessellift. Parking is available nearby, but be aware that parking fees may apply, typically around €5-€10 for a day.
Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, take the Zugspitzbahn (Zugspitze Railway) from the main station in Zugspitze to Garmisch-Partenkirchen. The train ride takes about 30 minutes. Once you arrive at Garmisch-Partenkirchen, you can either take a local bus (Bus number 1 or 2) that will take you close to the Sonnenkar 6er Sessellift or walk approximately 15-20 minutes following the signs towards the lift. Bus fares are generally around €2-€3.
