Car
If you are traveling by car, start from the center of Garmisch-Partenkirchen. Head southwest on Ludwigstraße/B2, then turn left onto Zugspitzstraße. Follow the signs for the Zugspitze cable car. The drive will take approximately 15 minutes. There is a large parking area at the base of the Zugspitze cable car station. Parking fees may apply, so be prepared to pay.
Public Transportation
For public transportation, take the regional train from Garmisch-Partenkirchen to the Eibsee station. The train ride takes about 10 minutes. From Eibsee station, follow the signs to the Zugspitze cable car station, which is a short walk away. Note that you will need to purchase a ticket for the cable car to ascend to the Zugspitze-South terrace.
Cable Car
Once you arrive at the Zugspitze cable car station, purchase a ticket for the cable car. The cable car ride will take approximately 10-15 minutes to reach the Zugspitze summit. Upon arrival, follow the signs to the South terrace, which offers stunning views and is easily accessible. Ensure you have your entry ticket ready as staff may check it.
