Getting There

• Car

  If you are traveling by car, start your journey from any point in the Ahafo Region. The most common route is to head towards the town of Abono, which is located near Lake Bosomtwe. From the center of Ahafo Region, take the road leading to the south toward Kumasi. After approximately 30-40 minutes, look for signs directing you to Abono. Once you reach Abono, follow the local roads leading to the shores of Lake Bosomtwe. Be aware that the roads may be uneven in some areas, so drive carefully. Parking is available near the lake.

• Public Transportation

  For those using public transportation, head to the nearest bus terminal in Ahafo Region. Look for a bus heading to Kumasi, as these buses frequently pass near Lake Bosomtwe. The journey to Kumasi takes about 30-40 minutes. Once you arrive at the Kumasi bus terminal, seek out shared taxis or tro-tros (minibuses) that are headed toward Abono. The fare for the tro-tro is typically around 2-3 Ghana Cedis. Once you get to Abono, you can walk to the lake or hire a local taxi for a short distance. Ensure to negotiate your fare beforehand.

• Taxi

  If you prefer a more direct route, you can hire a taxi from your location in Ahafo Region. Confirm the fare before starting your journey. The taxi will take you directly to Lake Bosomtwe, which is approximately a 30-40 minute drive depending on traffic. This option may be more expensive, generally costing between 30-50 Ghana Cedis, but provides convenience and comfort, especially for those unfamiliar with the area.
