Car
If you are traveling by car, start from Ho, the capital of the Volta Region. Head northeast on the N1 highway towards Afadjato and follow the signs to Mount Afadja. This scenic drive will take you approximately 30 minutes, covering around 20 kilometers. As you reach the base of the mountain, there will be a parking area where you can leave your vehicle.
Public Transportation
To reach Mount Afadja via public transportation, you can take a shared taxi or a bus from Ho to Afadjato. Shared taxis are located at the main taxi station in Ho and typically cost around 5-10 GHS (Ghanaian Cedi) per person. The journey will take about 30-40 minutes. Once you arrive at Afadjato, you may need to hire a local guide or a motorcycle taxi to take you to the foot of Mount Afadja, which may cost an additional 10-20 GHS.
Hiking
Once you reach the parking area or the foot of Mount Afadja, prepare for a hike. The trail to the summit is well-marked and takes about 1 to 2 hours, depending on your fitness level. It's advisable to wear comfortable shoes and carry water. There is no entrance fee to access the mountain, but hiring a local guide for about 20-30 GHS is recommended for a more informative experience.
