Getting there

Car

If you are traveling by car, start from Takoradi, the capital of the Western Region. Head west on the Takoradi-Accra Road (N1) for about 10 km until you reach the junction for the Akwidaa. Turn left onto the Akwidaa road and continue for approximately 15 km. At Akwidaa, take a right turn towards Butre and follow the signs for Fort Batenstein. The fort is located at R3FM+P48, Butre. Ensure your vehicle is in good condition as some roads may be unpaved.

Public Transportation

To reach Fort Batenstein using public transportation, start your journey from Takoradi. You can take a shared taxi or a 'trotro' (minibus) heading to Akwidaa. The fare is usually around GHS 5-10. Once you arrive at Akwidaa, you can either hire a motorbike or take a local taxi to Butre, which should cost around GHS 15-20. Be sure to ask the driver to drop you off at Fort Batenstein, located at R3FM+P48, Butre.

Motorbike

If you're comfortable riding a motorbike, you can rent one in Takoradi. Follow the same route as if you were driving by car, heading out on the Takoradi-Accra Road (N1) and then turning left towards Akwidaa. After reaching Akwidaa, continue to Butre, where Fort Batenstein is located. Ensure you wear a helmet and follow local traffic regulations. Rentals usually cost between GHS 50-100 per day.
