Getting There

  • Walking

    From Casemates Square, walk south up Main Street. After a few minutes, take the left fork onto Engineer Lane and walk uphill. Turn left just before 'Piece of Cake' onto the road, then take the stairs attached to the building at the top. Follow the stairs to the Gibraltar escalator. The Northern Defences are a short walk from the top of the escalator. Allow 10 minutes from Main Street.

    From the Gibraltar International Airport, take bus number 5 to Reclamation Road, near John Mackintosh Square. From there, follow the walking directions via Main Street and Engineer Lane. The bus fare is approximately £2.

  • Taxi

    Taxis are readily available at the Gibraltar International Airport and in the city center. A taxi ride from the airport to the Northern Defences will cost approximately £14-£20, depending on traffic and time of day. The journey takes around 15-20 minutes.
