Getting there

Walking

From Main Street, head south towards the Alameda Gardens. The Cable Car base station is located adjacent to the gardens, a short walk from the city center. Follow the signs for clear directions. Walking is a popular mode of transport in Gibraltar due to its compact size. Cost: Free

Public Transport

Several bus routes operated by the Gibraltar Bus Company stop near the Cable Car base station. Routes 2, 3, 4, and 10 are convenient options. Check local bus schedules for the most up-to-date information. Cost: Single fares are approximately £2.00.

Taxi

Taxis are readily available throughout Gibraltar, including at the airport, border crossing, and Casemates Square. A taxi ride from the Gibraltar International Airport to the Cable Car base station typically takes 10-15 minutes. Cost: Expect to pay around £10-£15 for a short taxi ride within Gibraltar.

Shuttle

A free shuttle service is available from the Gibraltar border to the Cable Car bottom station with any cable car ticket purchase. The shuttle departs every 30 minutes from the Gibraltar side of the frontier. Cost: Free with Cable Car ticket.

The famous Barbary macaques roam freely, adding a unique wildlife encounter to your visit. The Top Station also features a café, restaurant, and souvenir shop.The cable car provides easy access to the Upper Rock Nature Reserve, where you can explore St. Michael's Cave, the Great Siege Tunnels, and the thrilling Skywalk. A multimedia tour, included with your ticket, enriches your experience with historical insights and information about the Rock's geology, flora, and fauna.The cable car generally operates from 9:30 AM to 7:15 PM, with the last car descending at 7:45 PM, but hours vary seasonally. Check the current schedule before your visit. The cable car stops at the middle station between November and March, giving visitors the option of walking down from the Top Station and catching the cable car at the Middle Station.
