Overview

The Military Heritage Centre, situated in the Princess Caroline's Battery, provides a comprehensive look at Gibraltar's military past. The center's exhibits showcase the evolution of military technology and the lives of soldiers stationed here. Visitors can explore weaponry, uniforms, and artifacts from various periods, gaining insight into Gibraltar's strategic importance in conflicts like the 18th-century Siege and World War II. A highlight includes a recreation of a WWII-era bunker, offering a glimpse into the daily lives of soldiers during the war. The center also features a memorial chamber dedicated to the Royal Air Force, the Royal Navy, and British Regiments that served in Gibraltar.Princess Caroline's Battery was updated in 1871 with a 9-inch rifled muzzle loading gun and again in 1905 with a 6-inch Mark VII gun. Although the guns have been removed, the center retains much of the original machinery, weapons, shells and other artifacts.
