    From Casemates Square in the city center, Nelson's Anchorage is approximately a 30-40 minute walk. Head south along Main Street, then continue onto Rosia Road. Follow the road along the coastline; you'll pass the Trafalgar Cemetery on your way. Nelson's Anchorage will be on your left, just past the University of Gibraltar.

    Several bus routes serve Nelson's Anchorage. From the city center, take bus routes 3 or 4 and disembark at the Rosia Plaza bus stop. Nelson's Anchorage is a short 2-minute walk from the bus stop. It is believed to be the location where Admiral Lord Nelson's body was brought ashore following his victory at the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805. Legend has it that his body was preserved in a barrel of rum (or spirit of wine, according to some accounts) for the journey back to England.The site is also home to the Napier of Magdala Battery, which features a massive 100-Ton Gun. This gun, designed by Sir W.C. Armstrong in 1870, was nicknamed 'The Rockbuster' and is one of only two remaining guns of its type in the world. The gun was capable of firing a round every few minutes and had a range of up to eight miles.
