Getting there

Walking

From Main Street, head south towards the Alameda Gardens. The Cable Car base station is located just beyond the gardens, off Red Sands Road. The walk is relatively short and well-signposted. Alternatively, from the Gibraltar-Spain border, follow the main road (A308) into Gibraltar. Continue straight until you reach the roundabout, then take the first exit onto Winston Churchill Avenue. Follow the signs for the Cable Car, which will lead you to Red Sands Road. The walk from the border takes approximately 30-40 minutes. Cost: Free.

Public Transport

From the Gibraltar-Spain border or the Gibraltar Cruise Terminal, take bus routes 5 or 10 to Boyd Street Terminus. From there, it's a short walk to the Cable Car base station. Alternatively, local buses 2, 3, 4, 9, 1 and 7 will drop you off within sight of the Cable Car base station. Just ask the bus driver to point you in the right direction. Cost: Single bus fare is approximately £2.20 [unverified].

Taxi

Taxis are readily available throughout Gibraltar, including at the Gibraltar-Spain border and the cruise terminal. A taxi ride to the Cable Car base station from either location will take approximately 5-10 minutes. Cost: A short taxi ride within Gibraltar typically costs between £5-£10 [unverified].

Driving

If driving, navigate to Gibraltar via the A1 road from Spain. Once in Gibraltar, follow the signs for 'Upper Rock Nature Reserve'. Drive along Main Street, and then turn right onto Red Sands Road. Continue straight until you reach the Cable Car Parking Lot located at 1 Red Sands Rd, Gibraltar GX11 1AA. Parking near the Cable Car base station is limited. There are free parking spaces on Grand Parade, but these are often full. Paid parking is available in the vicinity, but availability may vary. Cost: Free parking on Grand Parade (limited availability). Paid parking costs vary.

A multimedia tour, included with the ticket, guides visitors around the terraces, offering insights into Gibraltar's history and landmarks.The cable car operates daily, with varying schedules in summer and winter. It is recommended to purchase tickets online in advance to avoid long queues, especially during peak season. The Gibraltar Pass includes a round trip on the Cable Car and access to other attractions.In 2007, the Top Station was refurbished to include modern facilities such as the Calpe Suite, which is used for weddings.
