Getting there

Walking

From Main Street, walk south towards the Alameda Gardens. The Cable Car base station is located right next to the gardens' main entrance, approximately a 15-20 minute walk from the city center. Look for signs directing you to 'Gibraltar Cable Car'. No costs involved.

Public Transport

Several bus lines, including numbers 2, 3, 4 and 10, stop near the Gibraltar Cable Car base station. Check local bus schedules for the most up-to-date information. Exit at the 'Elliot's Way - Cable Car Parking' or 'Victoria House' stop, both a short walk from the entrance. A single bus fare within Gibraltar typically costs around £2.20.

Shuttle

A complimentary shuttle service is available from the Gibraltar side of the frontier to the Cable Car base station. After crossing into Gibraltar, the shuttle bus is located on the left side of the road, just before the runway. The shuttle departs every 30 minutes, but delays may occur due to traffic.

Ascend to the Top of the Rock in just six minutes via the Gibraltar Cable Car, a thrilling ride offering unparalleled views and access to Gibraltar's most famous residents, the Barbary macaques. Constructed in 1966, the cable car was initially built for military purposes but soon opened to the public, becoming an essential mode of transport for tourists.The journey begins near the southern end of Main Street, next to the Alameda Gardens, where the base station is located. As you ascend, enjoy audio guides that narrate the historical backdrop of Gibraltar. The cable car ascends to 412 meters (1,352 ft) above sea level, offering views of the Strait of Gibraltar, Spain, and Morocco.At the Top Station, explore terraces, a restaurant, a café, and a souvenir shop. From here, you can access the Upper Rock Nature Reserve, home to attractions like St. Michael's Cave, the Skywalk, and the Great Siege Tunnels. The Top Station also offers a unique venue for weddings at the Mons Calpe Suite.The cable car operates throughout the day, approximately every 10 minutes. The ride itself provides panoramic views, making every moment memorable.
