The Gibraltar Botanic Gardens, also known as La Alameda Gardens, offer a serene escape in the heart of Gibraltar. Established in 1816 by Lieutenant-Governor Sir George Don, the gardens were originally intended as a recreational area for soldiers and a shady retreat for residents.
