Perched atop the iconic Rock of Gibraltar, the Skywalk offers a unique and exhilarating experience for visitors. Opened in 2018, this glass-bottomed platform extends from a natural promontory, providing breathtaking 360-degree views spanning Gibraltar, the Mediterranean Sea, the Strait of Gibraltar, and the North African coast.Standing 340 meters (1,115 feet) above sea level, the Skywalk is higher than the tallest point of London's Shard. The platform is constructed to withstand wind speeds over 150km/hour and can hold up to 340 people. The glass floor and balustrades, made of multiple layers of laminated glass, offer an exhilarating perspective, allowing visitors to look straight down to the rocky cliffs below.Built on the foundations of a former WWII anti-aircraft platform, the Skywalk also features informative panels detailing the geology, flora, fauna, and history of the Rock of Gibraltar. It connects to other attractions within the Upper Rock Nature Reserve, including the Windsor Suspension Bridge and the Apes' Den, via a series of walking trails. The Skywalk is accessed by stairs or a glass elevator.The Skywalk's inauguration was marked by Mark Hamill, known as Luke Skywalker from Star Wars, adding a touch of Hollywood glamour to this impressive landmark.

Getting There
Cable Car
The most common way to reach the Skywalk is by taking the Cable Car from the base station near the Alameda Gardens. From the top station, it's a short, downhill walk (approximately 5 minutes) to the Skywalk. A Nature Reserve ticket is required to access the Skywalk. Cable car tickets cost approximately £19.50 for adults and £10.50 for children (5-12 years) for a round trip. A Nature Reserve ticket costs £18 for adults and £12 for children.
Walking
For those already in the Upper Rock Nature Reserve, the Skywalk can be reached by foot via designated walking trails. Follow signs from other attractions like St. Michael's Cave or the Apes' Den. Note that the Upper Rock Nature Reserve is not accessible to private vehicles (except for Blue Badge holders). A Nature Reserve ticket is required to access the Skywalk, costing £18 for adults and £12 for children.
Public Transport
Several bus routes (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 9, 10) connect various points in Gibraltar to the Cable Car base station. From the bus station, transfer to the bus that goes to 'St. Michael's Cave' and get off at the Skywalk stop. Bus fares are around £2. From the Cable Car base station, follow the 'Cable Car' guidance. Alternatively, take Route no. 1, which stops near the Moorish Castle entrance, and walk to the Nature Reserve, Upper Rock entrance.
