These fortifications were further enhanced in anticipation of Operation Felix, the planned German capture of Gibraltar during World War II.Today, visitors can explore the restored sections of the Northern Defences, also known as 'The Jungle'. The site includes medieval fortifications, 18th-century military defenses, and WWII installations. Exploring the tunnels and galleries provides a unique glimpse into the lives of the soldiers who once defended this strategic location.Points of interest within the Northern Defences include the Genoese Battery, Governor's Lookout, O'Hara's Battery, and Jew's Gate. The site also features natural caves and geological faults that were integrated into the defensive system.
