Getting There

  • Walking

    If you are at Europa Point, head towards the iconic lighthouse and the Ibrahim-al-Ibrahim Mosque. From the mosque, follow the pathway towards Europa Point Car Park. Continue along the pathway to reach the battery, about a 10-minute walk from the lighthouse.

  • Public Transport

    From Gibraltar Harbour, walk to the main bus terminal near Ocean Village. Take bus number 2 towards the Upper Rock Nature Reserve. Get off at the stop for the Upper Rock Nature Reserve. From there, it's a 10-15 minute walk uphill to Half Way Battery. Be prepared for some steep areas. Bus fare is approximately £2.20 for a single journey.

  • Car

    From Gibraltar Harbour, head east on the A1 road towards the airport. Continue for about 2.5 km until you reach the junction with the A2 road. Turn left onto A2 and follow signs for the Upper Rock Nature Reserve. After approximately 1 km, you will arrive at the entrance to the Upper Rock. Note: There is an entrance fee for vehicles entering the reserve, which is around £10. Drive up through the reserve, following signs for Half Way Battery. The battery will be on your left after a few more minutes of driving. Parking near the Upper Rock Nature Reserve may have a fee of approximately £2-£5.
