Getting there

Walking

From Main Street, head south towards the Alameda Botanical Gardens. The Cable Car base station is located just beyond the gardens, off Red Sands Road. The walk is approximately 15-20 minutes from the city center.

Public Transport

Local bus routes 2, 3, 4, 5, and 10 stop near the Cable Car base station. Alight at the Boyd Street Terminus stop, which is a short walk from the base station. A single bus fare is approximately £2.20.

Taxi

Taxis are readily available throughout Gibraltar. A taxi ride from the Gibraltar International Airport or the city center to the Cable Car base station will cost approximately £5-£10. Confirm the fare with the driver before starting your journey.

Shuttle Service

A shuttle service is available from the Gibraltar side of the frontier to the Cable Car base station. The shuttle departs every 30 minutes from the left-hand side of the road, just before the runway. This service is exclusive to GibraltarInfo customers.

Ascend to the Top of the Rock in just six minutes via the Gibraltar Cable Car, a thrilling ride offering panoramic views from 412 meters above sea level. Built in 1966 by Swiss cable car experts, Von Roll Holding, the cable car has become an iconic attraction, transporting visitors to the summit for stunning vistas and encounters with the resident Barbary macaques.From the Top Station, take in views of two continents (Europe and Africa), two bodies of water (the Mediterranean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean), and three countries (Gibraltar, Spain, and Morocco). The Top Station complex offers various terraces, a souvenir shop, and the Top of the Rock Café, where you can relax and enjoy the scenery. A multimedia tour, accessible via a QR code on your ticket, provides insights into Gibraltar's history and landmarks.From the Top Station, explore the Upper Rock Nature Reserve, home to attractions like St. Michael's Cave, the Skywalk, and the Great Siege Tunnels. A separate Nature Reserve ticket is required to access these sites. The cable car operates throughout the day, approximately every 10 minutes, making it a convenient way to experience the Rock of Gibraltar.
