Getting There

  • Walking

    From the city center, the Moorish Castle is accessible by foot, though the route involves an uphill walk. Starting from Casemates Square, proceed north towards the Landport Gate, the traditional entrance to the fortress. Continue along Willis's Road, following signs for the Upper Rock Nature Reserve. The castle is located at the northern end of the reserve. Note that the walk is steep in places.

    The Citibus Route 1 is the most convenient public transport option. From the city center, take Route 1 to the Willis's Road Terminus, the last stop in the upper town, which is the closest bus stop to the Moorish Castle. From there, it's a short walk to the castle entrance. A single Citibus fare costs approximately £2.20.

  • Taxi

    Taxis are readily available throughout Gibraltar. A taxi from the Gibraltar International Airport or the city center to the Moorish Castle will cost approximately £10-£15. Ensure the driver is aware that you wish to visit the Moorish Castle within the Upper Rock Nature Reserve.
