Continue to follow the road until you see signs for Princess Caroline's Battery. The walk is steep and takes approximately 30-40 minutes. There are no costs associated with walking.

    From the Gibraltar border, take a bus towards the city center. Alight at The Rock Hotel bus stop on Queensway Road. From there, follow the road uphill until you see signs for Princess Caroline's Battery. As of July 2025, a single bus fare is approximately £1.20.

Named after Princess Caroline, the daughter of King George II, it played a role in the defense of Gibraltar. In 1905, it was refurbished to accommodate a 6-inch Mark VII gun. However, the battery was eventually decommissioned, and the gun was removed. Today, the underground magazine serves as the Military Heritage Centre, which includes the Memorial Chamber.Inside the Military Heritage Centre, visitors can explore relics from the battery's history, spanning from the eighteenth century to the present. The collection includes weapons, shells, and other artifacts. The Memorial Chamber pays tribute to the various regiments deployed to Gibraltar since the early eighteenth century, showcasing a comprehensive roll call.
