Public Transport

Walking
The center of Athens is very walkable, and many attractions are within a 20-minute walk of each other. From Syntagma Square, you can easily walk to Plaka, the Acropolis, and the Ancient Agora. Be prepared for uneven surfaces and cobblestone streets, and wear comfortable shoes.

The base fare for a taxi is €1.80, with a charge of €0.90/km during the day (05:00 to 24:00) and €1.25/km at night (24:00 to 05:00). The average fare for a trip within the city is around €8. A 20-minute taxi ride from Syntagma Square typically costs between €13 and €20.
