Getting there

Car

If traveling by car to Meteora, you will need to take the E92 highway from Thessaloniki or the E65 highway from Athens. Follow the signs towards Kalambaka, the town located at the base of Meteora. Once in Kalambaka, follow the signs towards Meteora. The monasteries are located on top of the rock formations, so you will need to park your car at the designated parking areas and then either hike up or take a shuttle bus to reach the monasteries.

Public Transportation

If using public transportation, you can take a train from Athens or Thessaloniki to the town of Kalambaka. From Kalambaka train station, you can either walk to Meteora (approximately 30-40 minutes) or take a taxi to the base of the rock formations. Once at the base, you will need to hike up or take a shuttle bus to reach the monasteries.
