Kassiopi Castle: A Byzantine Fortress with Panoramic Views

Kassiopi Castle, perched on a rocky hill in the heart of Kassiopi, is a testament to Corfu's rich and often turbulent past. This Byzantine fortress, dating back to the 6th century AD, was one of three key defensive structures that protected the island before the Venetian era. Together with Angelokastro and Gardiki Castle, it formed a defensive triangle, guarding Corfu against attacks from the north, south, and west.Strategically positioned on the northeastern coast, the castle overlooks the narrow Corfu Channel, offering a vital vantage point to spot oncoming ships.
