He financed the addition of stone seating and a monumental arched entrance. The stadium's design incorporated the natural hillside on its north side, while a walled terrace supported the south side.Measuring 178 meters in length and 25.5 meters in width, the stadium could accommodate around 6,500 spectators. It was the primary venue for athletic competitions during the Pythian Games, held every four years. These games, second in importance only to the Olympic Games, featured a variety of track and field events.Visitors today can explore the stadium, imagining the roar of the crowds and the intensity of the athletes competing in honor of Apollo.
