    Pantocrator Castle, located just south of Preveza, is an imposing fortress with a rich history. Constructed in 1807 by Ali Pasha, it was strategically positioned to control navigation in and out of the Amvrakikos Bay. The castle, initially known as Utz-Kale (Outer Citadel), was later named after the Pantocrator Church that once stood nearby.The castle's design, attributed to French Colonel F.F.G. Guillaume de Vaudoncourt, features an almost perfectly pentagonal shape with towering defensive walls. A sea bastion, dry moat to the south, and a water moat to the north further fortified its defenses. The main gate, accessible via a drawbridge, was located on the northern side.Visitors can explore the castle's well-preserved walls and towers, which offer stunning views of the Ionian Sea and the surrounding landscape. The intricate details of the construction and the echoes of battles and sieges past create an immersive experience.
