Discover more about Drymonas Waterfalls

Nestled in the northern part of Evia, Greece's second-largest island, the Drymonas Waterfalls offer a refreshing escape into nature. Located between the villages of Kerasia and Drymonas, the falls are approximately 4 km from the Monastery of St. David and about 20 km from Rovies. The River Sepia creates a magnificent spectacle as it scatters its water, forming three waterfalls and two small lakes. The tallest waterfall drops powerfully from a height of 15 meters into a crystal-clear lake surrounded by rocks and forest. The water is known to be very cold, with a maximum depth of around 2 meters at the point below the waterfall. The area boasts rich biodiversity, with dense forests consisting mainly of black pines, oaks, and Aleppo pine. Other trees that thrive near the waterfalls include plane trees, maples, wild cedars, and elms, alongside various species of flowers. The local community has carefully created a network of paths, bridges, and benches, allowing visitors to explore the natural surroundings with ease and respect. A well-maintained walking path, approximately 1.5 km long, starts from the parking lot and follows the stream of the River Sepia. Crossing the waterfall, the path continues to a playground and picnic area. For those seeking more adventure, a second path leads through the forest to the highest peak of Mount Xiros, offering stunning views. The Forestry Service maintains a wooden house near the waterfalls, showcasing local plant specimens and fossils for educational purposes.
