Old Anchor: A Maritime Landmark in Heraklion

Getting There

• Walking

  If you are in the heart of Heraklion, a great way to reach Old Anchor is by walking. Start from Plateia Venizelou (central square) and head east along 1866 Street towards the Old Port area. Continue straight until you reach Leof. Nearchou; Old Anchor is located directly on this road. This route is approximately 1 kilometer and should take around 15 minutes at a leisurely pace.

• Public Transport

  For a quicker option, take a local bus. Head to the nearest bus stop at the central square and look for bus routes heading towards the coast or the Old Port. Ask the driver if they stop at 'Leof. Nearchou'. The fare is typically around €1.50, and the journey will take about 10-15 minutes depending on traffic. Get off at the stop closest to Leof. Nearchou and walk a short distance to reach Old Anchor.

• Taxi

  If you prefer a direct route, consider taking a taxi. You can easily find taxis at designated taxi stands throughout the city or use a local taxi app. Inform the driver that you want to go to Old Anchor at Leof. Nearchou, Iraklio 712 02. The ride from the city center to Old Anchor will cost approximately €5-€10 and will take around 5-10 minutes depending on traffic.

• Parking

  If driving, parking is available near the port. There are several parking areas, including Parking Port 1, Parking Port 2, and Parking Port 3, with daily rates around €3. These lots can fill up quickly, especially between 11 AM and 3 PM. Street parking may be available on Efessou Street or Leof. Eth. Antistaseos, but watch for 'No Parking' signs and yellow paint.
