Bus
From Kalamata, head to the Kalamata Bus Station located at Aristomenous 82. Purchase a ticket to Pylos, which usually takes around 1 hour and 30 minutes. Once you arrive in Pylos, exit the bus and head towards the town center. The Old Navarino Fortress is approximately a 15-minute walk from the bus stop. Head northwest on Navarino Square towards the coast, then follow the signs towards the fortress, which is situated on a hill overlooking the bay.
Taxi
If you prefer a more direct route, you can take a taxi from anywhere in Kalamata to Pylos. Simply hail a taxi or call a local service, and inform the driver that you want to go to the Old Navarino Fortress. The trip will take approximately 45 minutes and will cost around 50-70 euros, depending on traffic.
Walking
For those feeling adventurous, you can walk to the Old Navarino Fortress from central Kalamata. Start from the Kalamata Marina, walk along the coast towards the south, and follow the coastal road to Pylos. This is a long walk of about 35 kilometers and may take around 7-8 hours, so make sure to wear comfortable shoes and bring water.
