Car
If you are driving to Yosos Pass, start from the town of Litochoro, which is a common base for visitors to Mount Olympus. From Litochoro, take the E65 road towards Katerini and then follow the signs for Mount Olympus National Park. After approximately 10 kilometers, you will reach the entrance to the national park. Continue on the road for about 15 kilometers until you reach the parking area near the Prionia site. Here, you can park your car (note that there may be a parking fee of around €3-€5). From Prionia, you will need to hike up the mountain trails towards Yosos Pass, which is approximately a 3-4 hour hike depending on your pace.
Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, you can take a bus from Thessaloniki to Litochoro, which operates frequently throughout the day. The bus ride takes about 1.5 hours and costs approximately €10. Once in Litochoro, you can either walk to the entrance of Mount Olympus National Park or take a taxi to the trailhead at Prionia (about 15-20 minutes by taxi, costing around €15-€20). From Prionia, you will need to hike to reach Yosos Pass, which will take around 3-4 hours.
Hiking
After reaching Prionia, follow the well-marked hiking trails towards Yosos Pass. The trail is moderately difficult, with some steep sections, so be prepared with proper hiking footwear and plenty of water. Make sure to check the weather conditions before you set out, as they can change rapidly in the mountains. Enjoy the scenic views as you ascend, and remember to take breaks as needed.
